Thank you for visiting my primitive rug hooking site.  Primitive rug hooking is an art that I was drawn to the first time I discovered a beautiful hooked rug in a shop while on a family vacation.  I loved the textures and colors that were used to capture a moment that the artist wanted to share.  Since then, I've enjoyed learning about the history of rug hooking - people using what they had available to them to create beautiful and useful items for their homes in the early 19th century.

The process of designing the patterns and color planning the rugs is very satisfying.  I enjoy hand-dyeing and marbleizing wools to create one-of-a-kind pieces.  I find inspiration for my designs in my garden, from antique botanicals, by studying antique rugs and almost everywhere I look in this wonderful world!

I design and hook all of my rugs using hand-dyed and mill-dyed wools on primitive linen backing.  My rugs, wall hangings, table runners and pillows are finished taking great care to provide quality hand-made workmanship.  The wall hangings are finished with a muslin rod pocket and dowel for convenient hanging.

Commissions are welcome.  Please contact me and we will work together on design ideas and color preferences.   I will then present you with a proposal and upon your acceptance, will require a nonrefundable 50% deposit.  Prices will range between $125-$175 a square foot, depending upon the complexity of the design and choice of custom-dyed wools.
