Where the road leads you

Spread the love

My life has many journeys. A high creative who is high energy married to a Feller who has lived all over the world in war zones lends itself to living in the moment where ever you are.

Each of us has ways of living that feed our soul. What is yours? Mine is about finding beauty in many forms. I love driving and enjoying landscapes, especially in the fall and winter. This summer season is lovely though all around our cottage in Oklahoma.

My joy is also flowers, and there are precious few of them in my life currently as our cottage had no landscaping. The roads are leading to planting this season. It just doesn’t work when store-bought sources are 45 minutes away.

Mind you, I only have one rule about life…Mama doesn’t do hot. Gardens require you to be up early if you live in Oklahoma or you’re facing HOT temperatures by May. Do I look like a person who perspires with style? No dear, my head sweats from the center of my head on…and being fluffy, it’s not pretty nor do I do it well. However loving the lovely things of other’s gardens keeps me learning new ways to bring some of it to my own spaces.

Friendships are like that too, the journey requires knowing who you are and who you aren’t. These last few years’ journeys have taught me the gift of less and more meaningful. I need fewer things, less experiences that are just that…experiences…while I’ve upped my desire to have meaningful experiences with those hearts I love. Are you weeding your garden of relationships as you grow?

The journeys we’re on are our lives. I think most of us dumb along for a good many years just trying to keep it all happening until we learn that we have this amazing privilege of choosing some of what our lives are. Who are our lives are spent with, and how we’ll live them even when hard things come.

Autumn Vibes

Weekends are about family time for Les and I. Friday night date night, Saturday morning bumming around and a slower pace. This week we enjoyed going to Grove, Oklahoma for their farmer’s market. We ran into a school friend of Fellers, Russell Horton. He’s a local farmer, his produce has been a favorite since I…

Summer changes and growth

Renovations done by the family in a cottage are not for the faint of heart. The televeision shows spend sixty minutes showing you what 1000 hours cannot accomplish by an owner doing it themselves. Thankfully, we didn’t expect our experience to be a HGTV one. My last table in the yard could fit 24 bodies…this…

Sunday Moments: The Gift of Solitude

When my father remarried after my mom’s death, a self-made lady came into our lives. She was self-taught, formal education was not valued by her father for his daughters. So she worked and owned businesses at a young age and later travelled the world with her then husband, studied history art and literature and continued…
